Minutes
of Last Meeting and matters arising.
v Agreed
v The NYDP Cyber Angels
training will be starting on the 23RD at Forest Gate Center.
v SRB- progress/employment.
Everything is being done so that the advert for the
job will be out very soon. Only one job will be on offer as the other will be
someone from the Council and transferred on secondment. Any one and everyone is
free to apply for the job as forms will be made available at the TMO’s office.
v Technical Progress.
Various tests have now been done and it is likely
that the cabling will be in fibre as it is more reliable. There will also be a
meeting with the manufacturers of the Set Top Boxes. There are still some
things yet to be sorted out with the Set Top Boxes but hopefully this will soon
be cleared up.
v Carpenters College and
Docklands Center.
They will be connected to the system. The College,a
masonry one, is new and Carpenters and Docklands Center in anticipation have
already allocated a room for this. The weekend fairs at the C&D center can
also be used to promote the WUC. Setting up computers at the C&D center is
subject to cost.
v eLearning
Helen reported that a guidance have been asked on
what to be done. Tee mentioned her meeting with Jan and the discussion held.
Helen said a meeting is on the pipeline whereby all these things will be
discussed and ironed out with the school. None of the guideline points has the
procurement of laptops for teachers.
v Media Trust
Richard Stubbs reported that Media Trust is now
willing to work with us.
v Sure Start
Will like to use WUC as the Communication link. Can
also pump some money for publicity into WUC.
Helen then said that she will have a chat with Media
Trust so as to accommodate Sure Starts’ proposals.
v Project Management.
Work will be starting on the Tower Blocks before the
end of the month. Unfortunately there is no money for CCTV.
v Evaluation Progress.
The list of the 50 volunteers is at hand but likely
there will be no installation till late August/September. This will also affect
the first stage of evaluation.
v Shed9
A video making Company. It was suggested that they
should liase with Media Trust who might use subcontractors that will be able to
source adverts from local companies. This way we might be able to use them at
no cost to WUC.
v eDemocracy
-
Hansard Society.
Will like to do a documentary on battered women. How
do we feel about having it on the intranet?
AOB
Pallavi reported that Roger, the head of the cips at
the College have resigned and Diane Golding is at the moment acting.
v Smart Cards have been
introduced in some Libraries and so far no problems.
As a result of the holidays, the next meeting will
be in Sept 17th 2001 at 3pm.
