1.1 It had been left out that Tee had volunteered to represent the steering group on ODPM’s Regen TV.
1.2 The minutes of the meeting were approved as amended.
1.3 Masterplan- No decision yet but the Council put in two unsuccessful bids for the regeneration of Carpenters Estate. Hence a decision is yet to be made on the future of the Estate.
1.4 James gave his report on the off the estate service licence issue. According to him, the proposed meeting with MTPS was postponed but there is a blanket agreement that covers the Council premises/libraries. He would try to ask for an extension to cover the Mayors’ office and Town Hall connection, it was agreed not to try and include local service centres at this point.
2.1 According to Geoffrey, there are two sets of training currently going on for people without any knowledge of the use of the computer teaching the Basic IT and Internet. Geoff and Gary are the teachers and the responses from residents have been good and encouraging.
2.2 Video training would start during the second week in April and it is likely that the training will be involved in the filming of “ Meet the TMO”. The training programme is funded by the SRB.
3.1 H2H is developing what they wish to achieve beyond the SRB – encouraging residents and putting the focus back on the residents. The details about the future and where they are now would be discussed in details during the Away Day.
3.2 One of the points to be discussed include the setting up of an editorial board for the H2H.
4.1 Richard Stubbs reported that the ODPM fund we applied for is successful and the official announcement would be made soon. A lot of work needs to be done including the project development. The ODPM funding is for the project to be modified so that it can be taken beyond the Estate. Govt is already planning ahead as to what will happen when analogue TV is switched off.
4.2 Looks almost certain that we’ll get the ERDF funding so as to support H2H. Hopefully this will be sorted out very soon.
5.1 Richard Stubbs and Richard Overton went through the prepared handout and explained in details the various points raised and what is being done.
5.2 On Free to Air, Richard Overton explained that it has been tested on the system but do not know how many channels would eventually be accessed. Parental control is yet to be perfected.
5.3 Richard Overton also explained that as a result of the various meetings held with the Police officer on the Estate, crime reporting could be implemented on the system and the monthly chat with the police might include the TMO board, which would be included and aired on the system.
5.4 Stratford Web cam should arrive very soon and would be installed as soon as it arrives.
6.1 Richard Overton reported that everything is working fine. He had made the power supply to be two instead of one as a backup in the event of power failure.
6.2 Games- behaving very well.
6.3 Working on blending the interface.
6.4 The SRB capital project will keep him very busy and occupied for a while.
6.5 Telecare project is going well. We will be able to set up the whole thing very soon e.g. water sensor. A trial run will be made is an empty flat in Lund or James Riley Point. But because this is a Social Service funded work, permit need to be obtained from Housing.
6.6 Was looking into the possibilities of the Council giving us a laser that they no longer needed and using it for a company wishing to use it to access the Carpenters system so that they could produce content for it. The company would pay for installation.
7.1 Rick Smith opined that it seems that the future of Learndirect is shaky at the moment. After a lot of deliberations, Rick was then mandated to look into it and report back .
7.2 Tim Willis would be delivering a paper titled “ Delivering Broadband Britain” on the 1st of July. Details would be given once this is made known.
The meeting rounded up at 3.55pm.
